What Do You Want to Achieve?
Before you even start looking at plants and flowers, decide what you want to achieve. Do you want to grow your own vegetables or are you more interested in making it look aesthetically pleasing?
This will affect the type of plants and flowers you buy. You can have both by splitting the garden in half but know this so you have the right space for your needs.
Think About Your Garden’s Size
You may want to grow have beautiful bushes that grow outwards and plant your own blackberry bushes but do you have enough room in your garden for them?
Think about the size of your garden and match your plans to that. You may have to look for plants that grow upwards or downwards to suit your needs.
Use Transplants in Your Gardening
You can get quicker results by opting for transplants, such as eggplant, herbs and summer squash.
You will find that there are a wide variety of options available when you grow through this method and you will benefit by not dealing with the earlier process; when plants are more likely to die!
Pick the Right Location
Look around your garden for the best location to grow plants and flowers.
You need somewhere that will get at least six hours of sun throughout the day; so avoid the spots that are usually shaded by trees or the house! You don’t necessarily need a garden with soil if you choose to grow in containers.
Pick the Right Type of Soil
Whether you grow in the ground or in containers, you still need some soil and it needs to be perfect for the plants or flowers.
Compost and peat moss are the best; you could even make your own compost with your leftovers! Make sure the soil is full of the right nutrients and is organic so it keeps the moisture and offers all the nourishment that the plants need.
Make Sure You Water Your Plants!
It’s really easy to think that your plants will get enough water from the rain but this isn’t necessarily true, especially in warm summers.
Make sure you water your plants; they need water just like humans! If you can, place your plants near a water source to help keep them hydrated easier.
Feed Your Plants to Nourish Them
Plants and flowers need nourishment and you need to feed them. This means investing in fertiliser. Look out for the organic and natural options when in a garden store or make your own.
This controls the nutrients that your family get if the plants are grown for food and reduces the chemicals flowers are exposed to so they look prettier.
