LA recently hosted the American Music Awards, with many of the world’s most stylish stars descending on the red carpet, ready to be judged for who and what they were wearing. Well of course I am happy to oblige – There were some truly triumphant looks strutting down the red carpet.
The most popular trend on show was metallics, with sequins and liquid lamé fabrics being the most chosen variation. However, many of the attendees decided to bring some sunshine to the red carpet, choosing bright spring colours that put winter far out of mind.
Stay ahead of the fashion pack, by emulating the style of the finest looks of the 2013 AMAs…
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift picked up three awards on the night, including the biggie for ‘Artist of the Year’, but she was also a big winner in the style stakes. She showed off a killer pair of legs in a stunning sequinned Julien Macdonald mini dress. The gold colour was perfect for complementing her bronzed skin and honey blonde locks, and by keeping the accessories to a minimum, Taylor let the dress do the talking.

Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus seems to have grown up since she turned 21 recently, finally ditching the awful stretch leggings and crop tops, for a more sophisticated look. Miley looked stylish, yet sexy in her white suite by Versus Versace, teamed with simple black heels and matching nails. For a look that is more winter appropriate, you could always add a black polo neck underneath the blazer, instead of going bare like Miley.

Emma Roberts
Actress and star of ‘American Horror Story’, Emma Roberts looked fun and youthful in her floor length Lanvin gown in pewter lamé. She added an extra pop of colour with a vibrant fuschia satin clutch bag and matching heels. Like Taylor, Emma kept the accessories to a minimum to keep the focus on her dress and gorgeous sunny blonde locks. With such a strong look, like Emma, keep the make up as neutral as possible, to avoid looking over the top.

Sarah Silverman
Comedienne Sarah Silverman was a ray of sunshine on the red carpet in a bright yellow Lela Rose dress. The dress was perfectly fitted to accentuate all of Sarah’s curves and the one shoulder detail, added some extra interest to the silhouette. The glittered silver clutch is the perfect accompaniment to the midi dress and a bold red lip really stands out against Sarah’s dark glossy hair.

Jennifer Hudson
Like Sarah, Jennifer Hudson chose a bright colour for the red carpet. The singer and actress was positively glowing in a neon orange dress and the daring peek-a-boo silhouette was a real show-stopper, showing off her toned legs. To finish off the look, Jennifer chose a stunning pair of metallic Charlotte Olympia sandals and silver clutch, which complemented the dress beautifully.
