Making exercise part of your daily routine is essential. It’s the best way to make it something you will stick to, so it all becomes a habit. You don’t need to do all your exercise at once. It’s possible to split it up throughout your day. Here are six simple ways to add exercise into your daily routine quickly and effectively.
Get Out on Your Lunch Break
Most people have an hour for their lunch. This is plenty of time to get some exercise in. You don’t need to go to the gym, or hope the tennis club close by is open.
It’s all about finding time-constricting-friendly options around. Just take a walk around the park or do some running up and down the stairs. If you have a shower at work, consider going for a run just before you eat.
Bike to Work Instead
Instead of getting in the car or on public transport, consider taking the bike to work. This will give you the exercise right at the start and at the end.
There is no need to find time for it at any other point. If you don’t live close enough, consider biking to the train station or part of the way. If you don’t own a bike, running or walking are other options.
Get Off a Stop Earlier
Some people don’t work close enough to bike or walk the full destination. One option is to get off the bus a stop or two earlier instead of at your normal one.
You will have to walk further, so you get a little extra exercise into your day. You could also get on a stop later so you have further to walk on that part of your journey too.
Use a Stability Ball
Switch your chair for a stability ball. You will need to work your core muscles throughout the day to remain steady, especially at first.
Another option is to stand up while you work. You could march on the spot while you type or walk around the office while on the phone to your customers.
Do Exercises While Watching TV
You will likely have certain favourite TV shows. Instead of waiting for them to finish before exercising, find exercises to do during them.
You could jog on the spot, do some step ups or even get a rowing band out. If you don’t like the idea of exercising while concentrating on the program, do it through the ad breaks.
Do Exercises During Your Everyday Tasks
Tasks like brushing your teeth, doing the washing up and showering happen on a daily basis.
It’s time to make them more exercise friendly. Consider squatting while you brush your teeth, or doing press ups before you get into the shower. You can march on the spot while doing the washing up or jog when you’re waiting for the kettle to boil. You’ll be surprised by the way the time adds up throughout the day.
