Natural Sleep Aids To Help Women Fall Asleep

Some women are so busy through the day that when the night comes they are exhausted and can fall asleep with no problems. However, sometimes women can have problems sleeping even if they are busy from sun up to sun down. Instead of having to rely on sleeping pills, which can be addictive, there are some natural remedies that women can use to fall asleep.

Valerian:

Valerian is an ancient herb that has been used for centuries to help people go to sleep. Typically, it can be found in herb shops and is sold in liquid or supplement form.

A half hour to one hour before bedtime, a few drops of the liquid is added to water, or one capsule can be taken. Some women have had great success with valerian, but it does not work with every person.

Melatonin:

The human brain produces melatonin in the body naturally, but some women do not make enough to help them fall asleep naturally. Melatonin is available in liquid form, and some women take it at least a half hour before they go to bed.

There have been many studies on this hormone, and even after months of use, there were no side effects of using it every night.

Lavender:

Many women believe that the calming scent of lavender on their pillows, or in their rooms, will help them fall asleep.

While burning lavender candles can be burned to fill a room with the scent, another way women can drink it is in tea form. At least one hour before bedtime, a soothing warm cup of lavender tea can help women get a good night’s rest.

Cherry juice:

Women who drink two glasses of cherry juice a day, once in the morning, and once in the night, reported getting a more restful sleep. Cherries are high in melatonin, and within two to three weeks of use, women reported sleeping through the night.

If women do not want to drink cherry juice, then eating one cup of cherries as a nighttime snack can deliver the same amount of melatonin to the body.

Lemon balm:

Lemon balm is in green leaves that look exactly like mint. The difference of course is the scent, and the leaves can be picked, dried, and then used in a tea.

Women can drink the tea at least a half hour before bedtime, and the lemon balm can also help women who are having digestive problems that are keeping them up at night.

Chamomile:

The ingredients in chamomile tea can help women sleep because it can relax the whole body.

There is more than one calming ingredient in chamomile, and also women who have anxiety issues can drink it to help soothe their nerves.

Green tea:

Green tea contains theanine, which is an amino acid that is found in many different types of tea. Green tea will be most effective for sleep when it is decaffeinated and is taken at least 90 minute to one hour before bedtime.

The warmth of the tea will relax the muscles of the body, and the theanine will help calm down the brain and prepare it for its rest period.
