Wouldn’t you love a more productive lifestyle? This isn’t about working harder but working smarter. You will get more done throughout the day, within the same amount of hours as before. There’s no need to rush your jobs and stay late Friday night to take the weekend off, or feel like you’ve not spent enough time with your family. Here are some quick tips to becoming more productive in your lifestyle.
Get Creative at the Coffee Shop
Having the sound of people around, you will get much more done. You could take your work to the coffee shop or even to the park. This also helps your creativity levels, so you find better ways of doing something, meaning you are more likely to get through it all in a shorter space of time. However, watch out for the people watching! It can help to take a five minute break, but you run the risk of spending too much time watching others around you.
Budget Your Time
Make it clear that you have a set amount of time to get a task done. Once you set yourself a time budget, you will spend it more wisely; like you do with your money. This works really well mixed with taking breaks. You could spend 45 minutes doing the work and then take a break for 15 minutes. You’ll want to get as much done during the 45 minutes as possible, and will soon become more productive.
Have a Shorter Working Day
If you have control over your working times, you could make your work day shorter. Start later but finish at the same time or start earlier and finish earlier. This helps with budgeting your time but also helps you become more productive in other areas of your life. You will be able to manage family commitments and personal projects better, too.
Do One Thing at Once
You may think answering the phones and replying to emails at the same time will help to make you more productive, but it does the opposite thing. You are likely to talk to the person about what you should be putting in the email and vice versa. The best thing to do is do one task at a time. You can put all your attention onto it and will get through it much quicker.
Do Some Exercise
Start your day with a bout of exercise. Just 15 minutes will make you more alert and release the right chemicals in your brain. It releases a good amount of adrenaline in your system, which will help to boost the amount of stuff that you get done, in a shorter space of time.
Set Yourself a Competition
There may be no one else to compete against, but that doesn’t mean you can’t set yourself a competition. Beat the clock or compete against yourself. You could work on beating your best time when it comes to answer your morning emails. You will soon find that you’re quicker at your job and more productive in life in general.
